SCIAC Honors Brianne Brown as AOW for Second Week

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2008) – Occidental College junior transfer Brianne Brown was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-17, 2008 as she averaged 22 points and 11.5 rebounds per game, leading the Tigers to a pair of wins at Redlands, in 2OT to claim a share of first place, and Pomona-Pitzer at home.

In 32 minutes of action during the Tigers’ 69-66 double overtime win against UR, Brown poured in a game-high 19 points adding nine boards and four assists. At home on Saturday she recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 25 points and 14 rebounds. She also accounted for five assists, four blocks and a pair of steals.

Brown shot an outstanding 17-for-34 (50%) from the field, including two three pointers while going 8-for-10 combined from the line. Ten of her 23 rebounds came on the offensive end of the court. Additionally, she had three steals.

Overall this season Brown is leading the SCIAC in steals while she appears in the top 10 in virtually every category.
