Regals Fall 2-0 to Tigers
CLU faces CMS in SCIAC playoffs
EAGLE ROCK, Calif. – The California Lutheran University women’s soccer team concluded the 2007 regular season on the road Monday afternoon losing to Occidental College by a pair of goals. Tiger midfielder Elise Devereux scored the game-winner just over 35 minutes into the first half.
Despite earning an 8-7 advantage in shots taken and a lopsided 7-0 margin in corner kicks (including five in the second half), the Occidental defense led by goalkeeper Melissa Warner and her three saves held the Regals scoreless.
Tigers senior Adrienne Spivak put away an unassisted insurance goal with just 84 seconds remaining to dash any hopes of a Regals comeback.
CLU freshman forward Brittany Clark attempted five of the eight shots but failed to improve on her team-leading 20 points this season (eight goals, four assists).
Cal Lutheran (7-10-3, 6-4-2 SCIAC) will go on the road to face the regular season conference champions Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Thursday, November 1 at 5 pm.
These two squads split a pair of regular season contests with CLU defeating CMS in Claremont, 2-1 on October 17th.
