Kingsmen Advance in SCIAC Tournament
Men's water polo tops OXY 15-9, preps for Redlands
The California Lutheran University men’s water polo team kicked off the SCIAC Tournament with a 15-9 victory over Occidental on Friday night in Redlands. Jeff Chaney and Scott Bredesen led the way for the Kingsmen with three goals apiece.
With the opening round win CLU advanced to a second round semi-final against Redlands, the No. 1 seed. CLU posted a 4-3 record during the SCIAC season, while Redlands went 7-0.
Matt Heagy and Billy Doherty each chipped in with two goals against Occidental. Goalie Quinten Beckmann made 11 stops in the cage.
The Kingsmen will square off with the Bulldogs on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for a chance to advance to the SCIAC Tournament final.
