Student-Athlete BBQ Ends 2007-08 Year

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 1, 2008) – The all-sports end of the year barbeque put on by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee was an opportunity to come together one last time and reflect on the 2007-08 academic year that was full of competition, new records, team and individual awards and of course some fun.
With each of the 19 intercollegiate athletic teams represented, nearly 400 student-athletes, coaches and athletics staff gathered on Bell Field where the barbeques were fired up, the moonwalks were bouncing and conversation filled the air.
After dinner some friendly competition in the form of a water balloon toss, each sport had an opportunity to share their season’s successes with the rest of the athletic teams.
Awards were presented for Academic Distinction, Athlete of the Week and Senior Athletes of the Year.
Occidental proudly announced that 74 student-athletes earned Athletic/Academic Achievement awards.
