Tracy Maple joins Tiger Team as SID


LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 10, 2007) – Tracy Maple has joined the Occidental College Athletics team as the Sports Information Director.

With seven years of experience in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC), as a student-athlete and a staff member at two institutions, Maple brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Occidental.

During the 2006-07 academic year Maple served as the SID at SCIAC rival California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif. There she was responsible for the reporting and media relations of 19 intercollegiate athletic teams.

Maple received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Sports Management from Whittier College where she also received her Master of Arts and Education degree in 2006 while serving as the SID for 21 teams.

She brings experience in photography, writing, media relations, sports promotions, statistics and Web development, while she is well versed in covering all sports. 

 “We are excited about Tracy’s passion for her job,” said Interim Director of Athletics Jaime Hoffman. “Her background with website maintenance and photography will make an immediate impact in our department. She also brings a sense of enthusiasm and commitment to the student-athletes and the staff, which are exceptional.”
