New Look Tigers

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 20, 2008) – Rush Gymnasium is in the midst of receiving a facelift, and with that comes not only a new floor and new bleachers, but a brand new Occidental College athletics logo for use by all 20 sports on campus.
An extensive catalog of images, including a brand new tiger and an improved version of the original Oxy “O,” along with a special Oxy athletics font, were designed this summer by Marsha Inouye from the Occidental communications department.
Building on the original “O,” Inouye developed a series of designs using the black, orange, and white College colors. In addition to the traditional “O,” an entire series of Tiger logos have also been created to replace the Tiger crawling through the “O” that athletics has sported most recently.
“Ideas for the new images were created to identify and reflect the distinguished tradition of Oxy athletics coupled with the classic college font and arch lettering,” Inouye said. “I think the new tiger bridges Occidental’s sports excellence from the past to the present and future.”
Images will be used for all intercollegiate athletic teams as well as the Occidental College Athletics Tiger Club.
Below you will see some of the numerous new images that Occidental student-athletes and athletics staff will don in the coming year.
