Tiger Alums to Play Hoops Overseas

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Aug. 12, 2009) – Two years after graduating from Occidental College with the career point record, Stacie Roshon has signed with the Velbert Baskets located in Velbert, Germany.

Roshon is the second Tiger to sign a contract to play professionally in Germany, following Song Kun ’03 who inked his name to play with the Herzöge Wolfenbüttel, replacing another Tiger graduate, Connor Whitman ’08, in June. Whitman, who had a terrific first season will likely sign another pro contract for the upcoming season as well.

While both Kun and Whitman have played overseas before, Roshon will get her first taste of international competition. Not only will she be playing at a high level, she will get a first hand experience of living in Germany with a host family. Additionally Roshon will have an opportunity to travel Europe while playing the sport she loves.

In what is a huge move for the 2007 graduate of Occidental College, Roshon is ecstatic about the opportunity to play abroad.

“Being able to continue by basketball career is a dream come true, but would not have been possible without the skills and knowledge I acquired at Occidental.”

Roshon leaves in September and will return to the states in late May while Kun prepares for his second stint playing in Germany, where his professional career began in 2003. Since that time he has played basketball inTaiwan, Japan and  Hong Kong.
