LOS ANGELES — The SCIAC singles round and the Occidental College baseball team’s quest for its first winning season since 1990 will have to wait.
Oxy’s game against Pomona-Pitzer at Anderson Field was rained out and has been moved to Monday at 3 p.m.
The three-game series portion of the SCIAC schedule is done with and Oxy will play each school one more time.
So the Tigers start three games in three days tomorrow, leading off with Redlands (17-13, 11-10) on the road at 1 p.m. Oxy returns home to host La Verne (22-10, 17-4 SCIAC) on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The last time the Tigers, currently 17-15 overall and 12-9 in SCIAC play, finished above .500 overall was 1990 when they were 20-14 overall and 12-6 SCIAC.
They aren’t the only team that unexpectedly got a day off courtesy of an unusually wet and soggy Southern California though.
The Oxy women’s tennis team’s match, scheduled for this afternoon against La Verne at the Claremont Club, has been postponed until Monday at 2 p.m.
The Oxy softball team (4-22, 2-16 SCIAC) flirted with the idea of heading out to Redlands, pushed back the start time of its doubleheader with the Bulldogs by an hour, before finally waiving the white flag. SCIAC softball has predetermined rain dates, meaning the Tigers will face Redlands on April 15 at noon.
The softball team also had its non-conference doubleheader against Chapman, scheduled for Saturday afternoon, rained out due to poor field conditions. The Tigers and Panthers will not make up the games.
According to weather.com’s 10-day forecast for Los Angeles, it will be in the 60s and sunny for the rest of the weekend.
