Intramural Policies
Eligibility:
All members on the roster must be current Occidental students, Alumni, or Faculty. No outside persons shall participate in Oxy Intramurals.
Athletics department policy: Varsity athletes can not participate in the same IM sport. This includes anyone that was on the opening day roster (made the varsity squad) for that sport during the same school year (2008-2009).
Example: Varsity Football Player can not play IM flag football, but may compete in IM soccer.
If your team competes with an ineligible player you will automatically forfeit that contest
If you played the previous year and are not playing this year, you may participate in that sport
A and B Leagues
AN INDIVIDUAL MAY PLAY ON ONLY ONE TEAM
You can not play in A and B leagues. You can only participate in one. If your team competes with a player who is in both leagues it will be an automatic forfeit.
The Code of Conduct
Participants are forbidden from the following:
- Playing under someone else's or an alias.
- Laying a hand upon, pushing, striking, or threatening an official or another participant.
- Refusing to abide by an official's decision.
- Verbally abusing another player or official.
- Knowingly breaking the rules of play.
- Using profane or obscene language at any time during competition.
- Arriving at a contest in an intoxicated state.
- Behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner.
If a participant breaks a rule of conduct
- The Director of Intramurals shall review the incident and issue a penalty.
- The Director's ruling will be final.
- Participants found guilty of breaking the code of conduct are subject to suspension ranging from one game to the entire season, or removal from the Intramural Program depending on the severity of the infraction.
