Middle Infielders Earn All-SCIAC, Jebbia Named All-West Region

LOS ANGELES Calif. (May 6, 2009) – The tandem of Tigers’ middle-infielders, Jason Jebbia and Daniel Kelley were named to the First and Second Team All-SCIAC, respectively while the junior SS landed himself on the Third Team All West Region.
Jebbia, who led the Tigers in every offensive category was also a threat on the bases and a force in the field. His .389 overall batting average came via 63 hits (12 doubles, three triples, six homeruns) while he drove in 32 runs and scored 41 times. His 26 stolen bases (in 31 chances) also boosted his vote totals for All West Region as he was responsible for 119 assists and 62 putouts at shortstop in 40 games.
In Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action sophomore second baseman Daniel Kelley posted a team-high .420 batting average, followed by Jebbia who hit at a .382 clip. Each collected 29 hits and finished with 15 RBIs. Jebbia crossed the plate 20 times and Kelley scored 13 runs.
Jebbia, a Pasadena, Calif. native, posted a slugging percentage of .618 with a .500 on base percentage through 21 SCIAC games. Jebbia drew a team-high 10 walks and was also hit by a pitch eight times. Kelley put up a .551 slugging percentage and a .481 on base percentage in 19 games. Each player also had a pair of sacrifices during the SCIAC season.
On the base paths Jebbia swiped 16 bags in 18 chances while Kelley was successful five of nine times.
Kelley and Jebbia worked hand-in-hand in the field as part of 14 and 10 double plays, respectively, while posting a .919 and .920 fielding percentages. Jebbia had two more putouts (32) and 11 more assists (49) than his counterpart on the right side of the infield.
Overall the Tigers finished the season with a 16-24 record and a
6-15 league mark.
