Tigers Rout Panthers in Series Finale

LOS ANGELES -- Devon DeRaad hit his second home run of the year and the Occidental College baseball team combined for 14 RBIs on their way 14-4 rout against Chapman University Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers got hot in the fourth inning scoring seven runs to go ahead 8-3. The Tigers finished with 14 hits with 10 different players recording at least one RBI. DeRaad, Walker Marks, Reid Gibbs, and Wilson Terrall led the pack with two RBIs each.

Scott Ericksen got the win for the Tigers in seven innings of work with three strikeouts and just one earned run. Riley James finished the final inning for Oxy.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in the SCIAC.

Series Breakdown

Game 1: Chapman 8, Occidental 5 Box Score

Jared Baur led the Tigers with two RBIs and a run scored on 2-4 performance at the plate. Charlie Caccamo, Jack Brancheau, and DeRaad each had an RBI.

Tyler Cook led the Panthers with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

Nolan Watson took the loss for the Tigers and Matt Smith picked up the win. Will Nahmens pitched three innings of relief. 

Game 2: Chapman 12, Occidental 1 (7 innings) Box Score

The Panthers scored six runs in the first two innings and never looked back on the way to a big win. Graham Pimm knocked in Baur in the fifth for Oxy`s lone run.

Matt Molnar pitched all seven innings for Chapman recording four strikeouts.

Next Game: The Tigers host the Caltech Beavers next Friday at 2:30 p.m.
