Two close games, but Tigers swept by Bulldogs

REDLANDS, Calif. (March 6, 2010) – After a 4-2 loss at home on Friday afternoon, the Occidental College Tigers traveled to the University of Redlands where a 12-5 final in game one was followed by another 4-2 loss against a strong Bulldogs’ team at The Yard on a cool, rainy Saturday afternoon in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.

Sunday sweep for Tigers
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 28, 2010) – After scoring 11 runs in game one to win 11-1 in an abbreviated seven inning game, the Occidental College Tigers put up 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning of game two as they cruised to a 14-2 victory over Caltech at Anderson Field this afternoon.

Rain washes away events; Women’s Lacrosse set for Inaugural game, Women’s Basketball playoff game to headline night-cap
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2010) – Heavy rain over night and more in the forecast has forced Occidental College to reschedule numerous events today. Among those postponed to tomorrow are baseball and men’s tennis, while women’s tennis will play next weekend and softball has been cancelled with a reschedule date unlikely. While those contests have been washed away with the rain, the women’s lacrosse team will play as scheduled in their Inaugural home game on Patterson Field.

Tigers take game one of weekend series
PASADENA, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2010) – Today the Tigers kicked off a weekend series with the Beavers from Caltech down the road in Pasadena where Occidental College earned an 11-4 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory. Freshman Cory Popham tossed just 3.0 innings, but earned his third victory in as many tries. The righty struck out four and walked just one as he allowed no runs.

Kingsmen take two from Tigers
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 21, 2010) – Although the Tigers and Kingsmen were forced to reconvene on the baseball diamond Sunday at noon to finish game two of the double header started on Saturday, after the game was halted due to darkness, the outcome was the same with CLU defeating Oxy by four runs, 9-5.

Tigers, Kingsmen to meet Sunday on diamond
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2010) – After falling 6-4 in the opening day of a twin bill at Anderson Field, the Occidental College Tigers and Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen will be back on the diamond Sunday at noon to finish game two of the double dip, game three of the series, after darkness put a stop to the game after seven innings this afternoon. CLU currently leads 8-4.

ANTHEM, Ariz. (Feb. 13, 2010) – Occidental jumped out to an early lead and continued to add runs over the final five innings as they held Whitman College to a few as the Tigers earned their third win of the season, and first of the Arizona Desert Classic, with a 15-3 victory this afternoon.

ANTHEM, Ariz. (Feb. 12, 2010) – One day after dropping a 15-4 decision to Pacific Lutheran University (WA) at the four-day Arizona Desert Classic, Occidental College needed extra innings against the George Fox University Bruins to decide a winner. Unfortunately for Oxy, GFU scored five runs with two outs in the top of the 11th, turning the Tigers away with a tough 7-2 loss at Boulder Creek High School.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 7, 2010) – Occidental College spilt a double-header today with Whitworth College on Anderson Field, winning game one 9-6 before falling 7-5 in a seven inning second game.

(Feb. 6, 2010) – A stormy morning that looked to put a damper on the Tigers’ scheduled opening day let up and a patch of blue, dry skies opened up, allowing the Occidental College baseball team to take the field and get the 2010 season underway. The Tigers jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after two innings en route to a 12-2 victory over the visiting Whitworth College Pirates.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 5, 2010) – An improved Tigers baseball squad enters the 2010 season energized and focused as they look to better their 16-24 overall record from a year ago. Returning to the diamond this spring are a 11 letter winners who will be joined by 12 incoming student-athletes.

Tigers hit 2010 off with annual Alumni game
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2010) – The Occidental College 2010 Varsity baseball team got a great warm-up for their opening game next weekend by dominating the Alumni Team last Saturday afternoon at Anderson Field. The Varsity won 24-3 in the “official” 8 ½ innings. A bottom of the ninth was played in which the Varsity added one more run to make 25 on the day.
