Senior Send Off: Bartlett, Goltz Receive Scholar Athlete Awards

Goltz Graduates from Tigers to NFL Lions
DETROIT, Mich. (April 29, 2009) – As a little boy Justin Goltz dreamed of playing professional football. At 17 he left Walled Lake, Mich. to join the Occidental College family. Today, two weeks prior to his graduation, the senior is boarding a plane back to Michigan where he has been invited to a two-day rookie mini-camp with the Detroit Lions of the National Football League.

Two Tigers Earn All-American, All-West Region
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Dec. 10, 2008) – The d3football.com Division III All-American and All-West Region Football Teams have been announced and a pair of Tigers appeared on the First Team All-West Region with Sam Emerson earning a spot on the offensive side of the ball while punter Alex Groh was named as a defensive player. Additionally Groh was named a First-Team All-American for the second consecutive year while Emerson garnered Second Team AA recognition.

(Nov. 22, 2008) – Although the team hoped to begin in Salem, Ore. and end in Salem, Va. the Tigers’ 2008 playoff run came to an early end as #11 Occidental College fell to #6 Willamette University in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs this afternoon at McCulloch Stadium. The Bearcats defeated the Tigers 48-33.

Patterson Field the Tigers posted 48 points, making it a day to remember for the 10 seniors who appeared in black and orange for the final time during the regular season. Occidental bounced back from a devastating loss a year ago to defeat Whittier College in a lop-sided game as they won 48-14 and regain possession of the coveted trophy the teams play for in the Battle of the Shoes.

Tigers Take Tale of Two Halves with Road Win over Chapman

(Oct. 18, 2008) – It was a cool, October evening at Wilson Field on the campus of Chapman University where the Occidental College Tigers came back from a 7-3 halftime deficit to defeat the Panthers 31-28 in their final non-conference competition of the 2008 season.
