Goltz Chosen As SCIAC Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2008) – One week after his teammate Anthony Ostland earned SCIAC Athlete of the Week honors, senior quarterback Justin Goltz followed along, earning the first AOW recognition of his career.
The Occidental captain from Walled Lakes, MI engineered a four-touchdown, 28-point, third quarter on Saturday evening at Chapman en route to a 31-28 come-from-behind victory to keep the #20 Tigers undefeated at 5-0 this season.
Finishing with a 184.29 pass efficiency rating, Goltz was 24-for-28 for 250 yards with his longest pass a 33-yard completion to Jason Lehman.
In the third quarter alone Goltz was 11-for-12 passing for 117 yards and a pair of touchdowns as Oxy was able to convert 4-of-4 third-down conversions during the quarter. He also added a 24-yard rushing touchdown (fourth rushing TD in four games) in the third quarter, accumulating 93 total yards on the ground in the game.
The Tigers jumped up the rankings from #24 to # 20 with the win and will be back on the gridiron Saturday afternoon when they travel to La Verne to face off with the Leopards.
