Wertheimer honored on d3football.com Team of the Week

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Sept. 24, 2009) – For the first time this season an Occidental College football player was recognized in the national ranks as junior defensive lineman Alex Wertheimer was named to the d3football.com Team of the Week.
Over the last two season, Wertheimer has established himself as one of the biggest defensive threats in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. On Saturday, Sept. 19, he showed his skills to the Northwest Conference as he harassed the Linfield quarterback all night with 10 QB hurries, adding 8.0 total tackles (four solo).
On the D-Line, Wertheimer is often faced with the challenge of beating two defenders and more often than not is successful in getting pressure on the quarterback. Tonight was nothing different, although the No. 21 Tigers fell to the No. 14 Wildcats, 31-27.
Two of Wertheimer’s tackles against Linfield were for a loss of yards.
D3football.com is the number one source for all Division III football information and has recognized a team of the week annually since the start of the 1999 season.
