Saunders Named SCIAC Athlete of the Week

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2009) – As voted by the Sports Information Directors in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, it was announced today that quarterback Scott Saunders was named the Male SCIAC Athlete of the Week for his performance the week of Oct. 5-11.

The Palm Springs, Calif. native completed 25 passes as he led the Tigers to a come-from-behind 27-24 overtime victory over the University of Redlands to remain undefeated in SCIAC play.

Saunders connected with Jason Lehman to get on the board in the opening quarter before engineering a 14-point fourth quarter to tie the game, sending the teams into overtime. Saunders hit Jordan Washington eight times for 118 yards, including a 30-yard TD completion to tie the game with just over four minutes to play.

Overall the senior racked up 271 yards with a pair of touchdowns to send the No. 18 Tigers past the then No. 22 Bulldogs.
