Wertheimer earns second d3football.com Team of the Week recognition

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2009) – Last Saturday night Alex Wertheimer teamed up with Jesse Fischer and Jim Hildensperger to stifle the University of La Verne offense as they joined forces to play an incredible defensive game. The No. 21 Occidental College Tigers allowed just five rushing yards in the game.

Wertheimer, a junior defensive end, was recognized for the second time this season by d3football.com as he was selected for the Team of the Week.

Against the Leopards he had four sacks for a loss of 20 yards and an additional six tackles for a loss of yardage. He recorded seven solo tackles overall while breaking up a pass and rushing the quarterback twice.

After the Tigers’ second game of the season, against Linfield College, Wertheimer was honored on the d3football.com week three Team of the Week for the first time in his career.

The only other SCIAC player earning Team of the Week honors by d3football.com was Whittier linebacker Brandon Boehme who was recognized in week four.
