Jim Kerman
Title: Kickers and Punters

Now in his 22nd season, Jim Kerman continues to play an important role as Occidental Football's kicking/punting coach.

Kerman coached three-time D3Football.com First-Team All-America punter Alex Groh '10 throughout his distinguished career.  Groh was a four-time All-SCIAC honoree, an American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America selection and the recipient of the Gilburg Award, given annually to the nation's top Division III punter. 

Groh graduated with a national-best, four-year career average of 42.7 yards per punt.  He was preceded at Occidental by three-time All-SCIAC selection and All-America punter Cory Ohnesorge '06, who led the nation with a 44.4 yard average in 2003.

Over the years, Kerman has coached several All-SCIAC placekickers/punters, including Groh, Ohnesorge, Neil Martin '10, Thomas Joraanstad '07, Matt Bernstein '04, David Glassmire '95, Davin Lundquist '95, and Mark Collinsworth '91.

A 1979 Occidental graduate and All-SCIAC center in basketball, Kerman has also served as the school's Director of Athletics, Assistant Director of Athletics, Director of Sports Information and Assistant Coach for men's basketball, golf and women's softball.  Kerman earned his master's degree in education from United States International University.
