Tigers Open SCIAC Play

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (Feb. 20, 2008) – For the first time in 2008 the seven Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools who sponsor golf met out on the course today in the first of five SCIAC matches set for the spring season.
The University of La Verne claimed the top spot with a combined 284, an impressive 21 strokes ahead of their closest competitor, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Occidental placed sixth with a 336.
For the second outing in a row Richard Highsmith led the way for Oxy with a 77, which tied him for 11 among all players.
Freshman Nick Schradle shot an 85 in his first SCIAC match followed by classmate . Ryan Ferguson who finished the day with 86 strokes.
Finishing off the Oxy scoring was Aaron Steinberg who shot an 88, posting a 39 on the front nine. Tom Logan also finished shooting 88.
Chris Nelson rounded out the Tigers team with a 90.
The Tigers will be back in action on March 4 when they travel to Tustin Ranch to play the Chapman University Panthers for the second time this season.
