Tigers Tumble at Kingsmen Invitational

LOMPOC, Calif. (March 17, 2008) – Fourteen teams from Southern California gathered today at La Purisma Country Club for the California Lutheran University Kingsmen Invitational.
Occidental, one of six SCIAC schools competing in the event, shot at combined 1024 during the three-round event. Oxy posted a 348 on day one followed by a second round 350 and came back to shoot a 344 on the final day of play.
Tom Logan was the most consistent Tiger at the tournament, shooting 85, 84, 86. Tori Leon, who did not score for Oxy, was the most improved player on the squad, lowering her day one total of 101 to a 90 in the second round before shooting an 89 on the final day.
Aaron Steinberg opened and closed with an 83, posting an 87 in the middle round. Ryan Ferguson (91, 93, 86) and Chris Nelson (89, 89, 94) also played for the black and orange.
SCIAC foe, Redlands, claimed the Invitational title with a 924, followed closely by the University of La Verne at 929. Oxy was fourteenth.
Oxy will meet the other conference schools at the # 3 SCIAC match on March 24 hosted by La Verne.
