Tigers Shoot Best Rounds of Season at SCIAC # 5

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (April 24, 2008) – Occidental golfers combined to shoot a season low 309 today at the final Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference outing, hosted by California Lutheran University, before the SCIAC Championships.
Richard Highsmith was the leader of the pack with a 75 followed closely by Chris Nelson and Aaron Steinberg who finished with 76 and 77 strokes, respectively. Ryan Ferguson rounded out the field with an 81.
Highsmith shot a 39 on the front nine. He and Steinberg each pared 12 holes today. Nelson posted a 36 on the back nine today and led all Tigers with 13 pars.
Also playing for the Tigers today were Alex Safransky (87) and Nick Schradle (92).
Occidental College took sixth place overall.
Three teams finished the day under 300 today. La Verne again walked away with the top spot at 292. The University of Redlands was next in line with a 295 and Cal Lutheran finished with a 297.
The same seven teams will meet again this weekend for the SCIAC Championships at Los Serranos Country Club to cap off the 2008 season.
