Tigers Set Program Round Record

Tigers Set Program Round Record

JURUPA VALLEY — The Occidental men's golf team had four players shoot even-par or 1-under as it set a program record for score in a round in a win over Macalester on Saturday at the Oak Quarry Golf Club.

Dylan Jirsa and Jack Peden each shot 71s, and Sam Miller and Clark Pietromonaco posted 72s for a total of 286, one stroke lower than the previous best of 287 set in 2014.

From the Coach: "It is an exciting time as I know we can play better," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "For example, our 286 was with two players making bogies on the last hole which is relatively straight forward and not long. We just need to focus on our consistency and we compare with anyone in the nation."

Oxy won by a score of 215-233 in the dual match with only three players on Macalester to score against.

Season Impact: The Tigers are off to a great start to the season. Oxy is undefeated in dual matches with wins over Marymount, Pomona-Pitzer, Cal St. Maritime, Menlo and Macalester.

Next Round: Oxy is back in at at the two-day West Cup, beginning on March 27.
