LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's golf team is raking in the academic awards.
Not only did the Tigers have a great year on the course, finishing in fourth in the conference and ranked nationally with Dylan Jirsa named the SCIAC Player of the Year, but they were also recognized as a GCAA Team Academic award winner and Jirsa was named an All-America Scholar Athlete.
The Tigers were one of just seven NCAA Division III men's programs to achieve President's Special Recognition, the highest level of team academic success for posting better than a 3.5 grade point average.
"At Oxy we prioritize excellence in the classroom and balance it with success on the golf course," Oxy head coach Will Morris said. "Dylan is incredibly disciplined and his recognition is a tribute to his passion to excel and hardwork."
The Tigers return a solid core group of players that will look to contend for a conference championship.
"We're looking forward to the season and continued improvement of the Oxy golf program," Morris said.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
