Dynamic Duo At it Again

Dynamic Duo At it Again

VENTURADylan Jirsa and Sam Miller continue to post low scores.

The Occidental men's golf team's dynamic duo tied for a team-best score of 1-over 145 at the two round California State Intercollegiate Championship on Monday and Tuesday.

Jirsa and Miller are averaging under par for the season at around 71 per round.

"Dylan and Sam continue to play excellent golf, although we know they can go even lower," Oxy head coach Will Morris said.

Jirsa was the SCIAC Men's Golfer of the Year in 2017 and Miller posted the lowest round at the SCIAC Championships in April.

The Tigers finished 11th in a field of nationally competitive NCAA Division III programs and some NAIA scholarship schools.

Henry Gordon played well and finished with a 147 and Jack Moeller rounded out Oxy's scorers with a 150.

"The continuing fine play of Henry Gordon is exciting," Morris said. "Jack Moeller has played like a veteran even though he's a rookie."

The Tigers had an opportunity to finish higher in the team standings, but were reduced to four scores after Day 1 when Tanay Srivastav withdrew with an injury.
