Back on the Polls


STERLING, Va. (Feb. 4, 2008) – After falling out of the D3Hoops. Division III National Poll with a loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in week one of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, the Tigers have returned to the Top-25 for the first time since week six.

 

The Tigers broke into the Division III rankings at the 25th spot after posting a 9-1 record five weeks in. Oxy then  climbed to the 21st spot a week later, boasting an 11-1 mark.

 

Since falling to CMS, the Tigers have gone 6-0, claiming the top spot in the SCIAC at the mid-way mark of the conference schedule. Oxy has a 48.8 team field goal percentage (42.5 % from three-point range) and a 73.3 free-throw percentage, and lead the SCIAC in all aforementioned categories. 

 

Occidental will have a chance for redemption on Wednesday night when the Stags travel to Rush Gymnasium in the SCIAC Showdown of the year with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m.
