Hunt-ing Past Pacific Union

ORANGE, Calif. (Dec. 18, 2007) – A nearly three week layoff did not have an affect on Chris Hunt and the Tigers as Occidental defeated Pacific Union College 77-40 at the Tiger-Panther Classic hosted at Chapman University.

Hunt recorded his first double-double of the season as he led all players with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Hunt was 7-for-13 shooting from the field, adding a 3-for-3 performance from the charity stripe.

Junior Huston Conti finished with 15 points and Connor Whitman rounded out the double figure scoring for Oxy with 11.

Chris Pitcher pulled down nine rebounds, including five offensive boards. Seven of Hunt’s rebounds were on the offensive end of the court. This duo accounted for more than half of the 20 offensive rebounds on the night, which led to 17 second chance points.

Overall, Oxy out-rebounded Pacific Union 54-24.

The Tigers spread out the scoring, with 11 players contributing, and 35 points coming off the bench. As a team Occidental shot 47.1 percent from the field.

From the line the team was 80%. Sean Anderson and Doug Jordan were each 2-2 and Conti also hit his only attempt.

Senior guard Gemayal McBride accounted for four assists while Pitcher and Gyan Alexander each handed out three.

Pacific Union was led by Brandon Monty who tallied 10 points and Ryan Vos who had five rebounds.

Occidental (4-1) will conclude the Tiger-Panther Classic on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. when they tip off with SUNY Plattsburgh (NY) at Chapman University in Orange, Calif.
