Tigers Men’s Soccer Snaps Skid

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2007) – It seems the first one is always the hardest one to get. But wait no longer for the Tigers as the men snapped a two-game losing skid with a 2-0 win over the Golden Eagles at La Sierra University on Sunday.

A pair of newcomers led the offensive charge today.

Sophomore transfer Alex Kipling got the scoring started for the Tigers with an unassisted goal in the 34th minute of action. Adding to the offense was freshman midfielder Skylar Roush who found the back of the net in his only shot. It was Roush’s first collegiate goal.

Ian Powell got the start in front of the goal and made three saves for Oxy.

Occidental finished the game with seven corner kicks while La Sierra had none. The Tigers out-shot the Golden Eagles eight to seven in the contest.

Oxy will open SCIAC play with a trip to La Verne on Wednesday, Sept. 12 for a kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
