Tigers Win Again, Defeat Cal Lu 2-1

THOUSAND OAKSBen Simon and Grayson Burdon each found the net as the Occidental men's soccer team stayed hot with a 2-1 victory at Cal Lutheran on Monday night.

The Tigers improve to 6-5-1 overall and 5-4 in SCIAC play. Oxy is in fourth place, one point back of third and six points back of first place.

Oxy has won five of its last six games, outscoring opponents 24-4 during that stretch. The one loss was 2-1 in overtime at Pomona-Pitzer.

With seven conference matches left, the Tigers are in position to make their third four-team SCIAC tournament in three years.

Liam Walsh assisted Simon's goal in the 39th minute and Elijah Remy assisted Burdon for an insurance goal in the 62nd minute.

Burdon is fourth in the SCIAC with four goals in conference games. 

Remy and Walsh each now have four SCIAC assists, one shy of the conference leader.

Cal Lutheran cut the lead to 2-1 when Andres Mendoza scored in the 84th minute.

The Tigers are back in action on Saturday at La Verne at 7 p.m.
