Oxy Falls to Chapman in High-Scoring Game

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's soccer team fell 4-2 to Chapman in a high-scoring thriller at Jack Kemp Stadium on Monday.

Zev Golis found Marco Saglembeni for the game's first goal and the last goal to lead the Panthers. Elliot Braund and Justo Garcia also had goals for Chapman.

After Oxy fell behind 2-0, Ryan Wilson finished off a pass from Tod Kawada, cutting the lead to 2-1 at halftime.

Kawada fought to stay on the ball just outside the box, laid the ball back to Wilson, who beat Chapman goalkeeper Sean Augustine with a rolling shot just inside the post.

The Tigers went down 3-1 in the second half, but quickly answered with a penalty by Santiago Bedoya-Gallego.

Kawada and Morgan Bennett-Smith had a few quality looks at the goal, including one off the cross bar from Bennett-Smith and one that needed a diving save from Kawada, but couldn't find the net.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium.
