Walsh Named SCIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week

LOS ANGELESLiam Walsh was named the SCIAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week on Monday after a terrific week.

The junior from Washington, D.C. scored four goals and had two assists on the week, leading the red-hot Occidental men's soccer team to a pair of blowout victories.

Oxy defeated Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 5-3 and Whittier 4-1. Walsh had two goals and an assist in each game.

In his last three games, he's led Oxy to three wins in a row and a 12-5 goal differential with five goals and three assists.

Walsh's biggest competition for the award probably came from his own teammate. Ariel Rosso had three goals and two assists on the week.

Walsh is tied for second with Rosso among SCIAC players in total points at 13.

Oxy, currently sitting in second place in the SCIAC standings at 5-2, is back in action on Wednesday at Chapman at 4 p.m. Oxy has won five of its last six games this season.

The Chapman game is the first of three consecutive road games.
