LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's soccer team made easy work of Pomona-Pitzer in a 4-0 win over the Sagehens at Jack Kemp Stadium on Wednesday.
The result was decided early as the Tigers scored twice in the first 20 minutes.
Liam Walsh scored Oxy's first goal of the game in the 14th minute. Miles Robertson found him at the top of the box, he took a touch and drilled a right-footed shot off the cross bar and down into the goal.
It's Walsh's team-best sixth goal this season and his fourth goal in SCIAC play.
Oxy's second goal of the game was a pretty build up and score. Ariel Rosso stole the ball in Sagehen territory, Ethan Glass crossed it in to Walsh, who one-timed the ball over the top to Nate Dunning for the insurance goal in the 20th minute.
Marcus Blumenfeld scored Oxy's third goal in the 43rd minute. He rebounded the ball off a throw in and volleyed the ball into the net.
Ethan Glass scored Oxy's fourth goal off a set piece in the 51st minute. He rebounded a loose ball and hit a right-footed roller that beat the keeper.
Glass and Walsh both finished with a goal and an assist for Oxy.
Season Impact: Oxy improves to 8-3 overall and 6-2 in SCIAC. The Tigers are currently in second place, three points back of first-place Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Oxy handed CMS its first loss of the season in their last game and has won four SCIAC games in a row.
Pomona-Pitzer falls to 4-8 and 3-5.
Next Game: The Tigers are back in action on Saturday against Cal Lutheran at 7 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium. The Tigers beat Cal Lutheran 1-0 on the road in the first meeting between the teams in September.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
