LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's soccer team has a chance to win a share of its first regular season SCIAC Championship in program history against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium.
Admission to the game is free.
The Tigers currently sit tied for second place in the SCIAC at 30 points, trailing CMS by three points with one match to play. If Oxy wins it will tie CMS for the regular season championship and likely earn the No. 1 seed in the four-team SCIAC Tournament that begins next week.
The Tigers are led by senior forward Liam Walsh who has been on an absolute terror lately, scoring 11 goals in his last five SCIAC games. He recorded a hat-trick against Redlands and scored four goals against Caltech on Wednesday night. He is the SCIAC's leading goal scorer this season with a total of 15 in conference play.
Oxy has already secured a spot in the four-team SCIAC Tournament the determines the SCIAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs and will be no lower than the No. 3 seed. If Oxy is the No. 1 or No. 2 seed it will host the SCIAC Tournament Seminfinal on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at Jack Kemp Stadium. The highest remaining seed hosts the SCIAC Tournament Championship on Nov. 3.Follow Oxy Athletics on Twitter Sign Up for Newsletters Watch on Youtube Follow us on Instagram
