Oxy Falls to Hope

FULLERTON, Calif. (Feb. 2, 2008) – Occidental men’s tennis took on  Hope University  for the first time this season. Putting up a fight in a losing effort, the Tiger’s took three of the nine matches.

Senior Alex Montgomery and sophomore Dan Ikuta lead the Tigers in doubles action, defeating Perris Rowan and Joel Nedelisky in a big 8-1 victory.

The Tigers singles forerunner was Reid Fenning who shot down Hope’s Brett Harvey with two 6-0 wins. Adding another singles victory for Oxy was Vince Karlen, with a  7-6 and 6-1  win over Felix Haufe.

Occidental’s season record drops to 1-3.  

On Saturday February 9, the Tigers will travel to Thousand Oaks for their first Southern California Intercollegiate Conference match against California Lutheran University.
