Second Straight for Tigers Tennis
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 22, 2008) – The Tiger men’s tennis team defeated George Fox University (OR) 8-1 today, marking their second straight win at the McKinnon Family Tennis Center on the campus of Occidental College.
In doubles play Victor Sowers and Daniel Ikuta won 8-2 at the # 1 spot followed by 8-0 and 8-1 victories at the # 2 and # 2 spots by Mike Kuhn and Reid Fenning and Vince Karlen and Alex Montgomery, respectively.
Sowers (6-3, 6-0), Karlen (6-0, 6-2), Montgomery (6-2, 6-0), Fenning (6-1, 6-0) and Kuhn (6-0, 6-0) all went on to win their respective singles matches as well.
Nick Jenness recorded the only LC victory today winning a 6-3, 2-6, 10-8 battle against Ikuta at the # 3 singles spot.
The Tigers improve to 4-7 overall in 2008 while GFU falls to 1-10 on the season.
Occidental will host Lewis & Clark Colleges (OR) on Monday, March 24 at 3:00 p.m.
