Oxy Men’s Tennis Extends Winning Streak

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (March 29, 2008) – Proving they could do it once again, the Occidental College men’s tennis team extended their winning streak to five straight matches. Sweeping doubles action, the Tigers won the conference match 6-3 against Pomona Pitzer.  

Going three for three, Oxy gave the Sagehens no opportunity for victory in doubles play.

Mike Kuhn and Reid Fenning defeated their opponents 8-4, Dan Ikuta and Vic Sowers pulled a 9-7 win, and a 8-5 victory for Alex Montgomery and Vince Karlen rounded out doubles play.

The Tigers took three of the six singles matches, winning the # 2, #3, and # 6 matches, respectively.

Karlen found big Tiger victory in the #2 spot in singles play with a 6-2 , 6-1 win. Posting two more Oxy wins were Montgomery ‘s 7-5,6-3 victory and Fenning’s 6-4,6-4 triumph. 

The Tigers will host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday, April 5, a SCIAC match . Oxy is currently 7-7.
