A 2007 graduate, Guice played four years of intercollegiate tennis and has roots to Occidental dating back to Tiger Tennis Camp under the direction of Brian Newhall, current Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Assistant Director of Athletics and Marty Bean, current Women’s Tennis Assistant Coach.

The Altadena, Calif. resident is still active in the Oxy tennis programs and served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach for the women’s team between 2007 and 2009 providing numerous student-athletes with hitting sessions, private lessons, and match play.

As a young energetic recent graduate with over 18 years of experience in the sport, Guice has begun a career in the world of tennis as a Tennis Pro and Pro Hitter at two local tennis centers.

“My involvement with tennis at the Flint Canyon Tennis Club and iTennis Inc. I have provided me access to changing trends within the game that I will be able to bring to the courts at Occidental and enhance the program,” Guice shared.

Not only has Guice had the opportunity to play for the black and orange, but he has acquired a solid ability to teach the game and will bring fresh ideas to his players, and has a bright vision for the future through recruiting efforts.

During his playing days he was ranked top-60 in the boys’ 18-and under division in Southern California. He is also a USPTA Certified Professional and played USTA sanctioned tournaments for 14 years.

The addition of Guice is a welcomed one by Occidental’s Tennis Coordinator Linda Park who shared that “Michael will not only strive to build a top ranked program, but he will also provide valuable experiences for his players as he brings a vast knowledge and drive to the men's tennis program.” She went on, “Having played on the Occidental team, he knows firsthand what it takes to be an Oxy Tiger and will do his best to achieve success for his team. Also, the numerous local connections he has will pay off making the future of Occidental Men's Tennis very bright.”
