Valdes Named Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Nov. 5, 2008) – A four-year member of
the men’s water polo at Occidental College, Andrew Valdes has
lived by the motto, “Leave it all in the pool” and
maybe even more fitting, “Leave it in the net.”
In two games this week the senior attacker scored eight goals, four
in each game, stretching his four-goal performance to four
consecutive games while he has tallied four or more in the last
seven of eight games.
This week his victims were Whittier College and
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps as the Tigers picked up a pair of wins
defeating the teams 12-10 and 14-10, respectively. Against Whittier
he added an assist and a steal while he dished out a pair of
assists with two steals against CMS.
Valdes leads the conference in scoring with 78 goals and is ranked
third across the nation.
