Oliver Named WWPA Player of the Week
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2009) – Austen Oliver has been a dominant offensive force for the Tigers all season and his efforts from this week, as he led Occidental to a pair of victories, have been recognized by the Western Water Polo Association as he was announced the Player of the Week announced today.
In back-to-back wins last week Oliver combined to score 10 goals with seven assists and four steals to earn his first WWPA Player of the Week honor. Last week Occidental defeated Santa Ana College and Connecticut College by scores of 20-5 and 18-5, respectively. Oliver scored five times in Oxy’s 20-5 win over SAC on Oct. 8th before finishing the week with a five goals, four assist performance on Oct. 10 against CC.
Overall this fall the junior from Houston, Texas leads the Tigers with 36 goals and 22 assists through 14 games. Additionally he has also drawn a team high 29 exclusions.
