Benz gets off All-America nod to conclude collegiate career
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Nine weeks after Greg Benz was named to the Second Team All-SCIAC the senior added one more accolade to his resume earning 2010 All-America Honorable Mention as announced today by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC).

Tigers finish fifth at SCIAC Tournament
CLAREMONT, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2010) – The Occidental College men’s water polo team concluded their 2010 campaign with a 2-1 weekend at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament hosted at Pomona-Pitzer. On day one the Tigers fell 15-8 to eventual tournament champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, but rebounded with 21-8 and 9-8 victories over Caltech and the University of La Verne on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

LA VERNE, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2010) – A 19 block game from goalie Scott Churchman propelled the Tigers past the Leopards, 13-7, at the University of La Verne this afternoon in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 30, 2010) – With a lot of black and orange in Taylor Pool on Halloween weekend, the Occidental College Tigers defeated the Caltech Beavers 21-13 in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, snapping a three game losing skid.

Benz named WWPA Player of the Week
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2010) – Occidental senior water polo player Greg Benz was named the Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week for his contributions to the Tigers’ 3-2 week, which included a 12-11 buzzer beater to upset the then No. 4 Whittier College poets in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season opener.

Stags stun Tigers in SCIAC play
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 20, 2010) – Tonight at Taylor Pool the Occidental College Tigers hosted the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action. The outcome was not as favorable for the Black and Orange as their opening game as CMS controlled the pace of the game from the first sprint and walked off the deck with a 19-9 victory, dropping Oxy to 1-1 in league play.

Benz buzzer beater pushes Tigers past Poets in SCIAC opener
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2010) – Down to the wire, the Tigers topped the Poets in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opener behind a buzzer beater goal from senior Greg Benz to give Occidental College a 12-11 come-from-behind victory over No. 4 ranked Whittier College at Taylor Pool this morning.

(Oct. 15, 2010) – Coming off an exciting home opening victory, the Tigers jumped back into Taylor Pool tonight where the outcome, unfortunately, was not in favor of Occidental College as Division II Mercyhurst College defeated the Black and Orange 13-11 in non-conference action.

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2010) – For the first time in 2010 the Occidental College men’s water polo team played at home. In the friendly confines of Taylor Pool, with the bleachers packed and the crowd thoroughly involved, the Tigers left the deck with a 18-17 victory over the visiting Vanguard University Lions in non-conference play.

Tigers tear past Penn State-Behrend at Claremont Convergence
CLAREMONT, Calif. (Oct. 11, 2010) – Over the weekend the Occidental College Tigers earned a 21-8 victory over Penn State-Behrend at the 2010 Claremont Convergence Tournament. Oxy faced tough competition in Harvard University, Fresno Pacific and Division I Santa Clara on the weekend as well.

ORANGE, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2010) – The Tigers fired off 28 shots today, but the cross bars got in the way, Occidental College fell 12-9 to host Chapman University in non-conference action this morning.

Tigers lock up first win of 2010 at Lancer Invitational
LANCASTER, Calif. (Sept. 25, 2010) – In the final game of the day today at the Lancer Invitational hosted by Cal Baptist University, the Occidental College men’s water polo team knocked off Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe University of La Verne 7-5 for their first win of the young 2010 season.

Shaky start to 2010 water polo season
LA VERNE, Calif. (Sept. 12, 2010) – Opening weekend was a tough one for the young Tigers’ squad who returned to Occidental College winless despite having played some competitive games against tough opponents. In addition to playing three Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams, they were also matched up against a pair of Division I programs in UC Davis and Pepperdine University.

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. (Aug. 22, 2010) – The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) announced the Division III preseason rankings last week and the Occidental College Tigers landed at number 10 in the nation entering their 2010 campaign.
