(Nov. 14, 2010) – The Occidental College men’s water polo team concluded their 2010 campaign with a 2-1 weekend at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament hosted at Pomona-Pitzer. On day one the Tigers fell 15-8 to eventual tournament champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, but rebounded with 21-8 and 9-8 victories over Caltech and the University of La Verne on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

(Oct. 20, 2010) – Occidental senior water polo player Greg Benz was named the Western Water Polo Association Player of the Week for his contributions to the Tigers’ 3-2 week, which included a 12-11 buzzer beater to upset the then No. 4 Whittier College poets in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season opener.

The outcome was not as favorable for the Black and Orange as their opening game as CMS controlled the pace of the game from the first sprint and walked off the deck with a 19-9 victory, dropping Oxy to 1-1 in league play.
