Larry Zubrin enters his fifth year at the helm of the Occidental Men's Water Polo Program. Hailing from Newport Beach California Zubrin arrived at Occidental after eight years as a successful high school coach at El Modena and Laguna Beach High School in Orange County. Zubrin also represented United States Water Polo as the coach of the Boys and Girls Orange County Youth teams in 1999-2000 where he assisted in evaluating talent for the US National Team.

In the spring Zubrin also serves as the Head Women's Water Polo Coach. Through his first four years at Occidental, Zubrin has produced 16 CWPA All-Academic award winners and 13 NCAA All-American water polo players.

A graduate of Corona Del Mar High School in Newport Beach, Calif., Zubrin went on to compete as a water polo player and swimmer at Golden West College and then at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he was a two-time NCAA All-American Swimmer.

A 2005 graduate of Occidental, Scott Shannon was a four year starter and an NCAA All-American during his senior season on the Oxy men's water polo team.  The 2008 season will mark  Shannon's first as a coach for the Tigers. Prior coaching experience includes La Canada High School and the Houston Water Polo Club.
