Chaves Earns SCIAC Athlete of the Week Honors

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2007) – Congratulations to Kevin Chaves, senior cross country runner, who was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 4, 2007.

A two-year team captain, Chaves, was named SCIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Year after winning both the SCIAC Multi-Duals and SCIAC Conference Championship titles. He finished ahead of all his competitors in a time of 26:23.92 en route to leading the Tigers to their second SCIAC Championship in as many years. During his four year career has finished 2nd, 4th, 2nd, and 1st at SCIAC Conference meets. Additionally he qualified for XC nationals each of last two years.

The Tigers first place SCIAC finish earned them a trip to the West Regional meet on Sat. Nov. 10, 2007 in Portland, Ore.
