Kleinsasser Leads Pack in Collegiate Debut
IRVINE, Calif. (Sept. 6, 2008) – Eric Kleinsasser is not new to Southern California, but the Glendale native made a name for himself in his first collegiate cross country meet as a member of the Occidental College Tigers. His first place finish in the 8K race (26:45.50) led the way for a third place team finish at the UCI-Asics Invitational today.
Both of the returning All-SCIAC recipients scored for the Tigers today. Keith Blumenfeld finished seventh overall with a time of 27:27.20 while David Martinez was 23rd at 28:20.90. Finishing in the third spot for Oxy, and eighteenth overall, was junior Victor Kali (28:04.90).
The final three runners who contributed to the team’s 27:53.36 average were freshman Sam Lindley (28:48.30), Sebi Devlin-Foltz (29:02.20) and Will Hollingsworth (29:12.20).
Will Moseley, Thomas Cahuzac and Jeff Ross also donned black and orange for the first time.
Occidental will travel to Redlands, Calif. on Saturday, Sept. 13 to partake in the University of Redlands Invitational for their second competition of the season.
