Tiger Pack Finishes First, Kleinsasser Leads the Way

MIRADA, Calif.(Oct. 18, 2008) – Each of the five scoring runners for the Occidental College men’s cross country team finished among the Top-10, leading the Tigers to a 7-0 record at the only SCIAC Multi-Dual meet of the season.
Freshman sensation Eric Kleinsasser and senior Keith Blumenfeld ran stride-for-stride through much of the race before Kleinsasser pulled away for the victory crossing the line in 26:11.26 at his first conference meet. Blumenfeld went on to place third at 26:26.95, followed closely by a pair of seniors and a freshman.
Clay Hoadley (26:40.29), David Martinez (27:00.30) and Sebi Delvin-Foltz (27:17.39) finished fifth, seventh and tenth, respectively to add to the the scoring for Occidental.
The Tigers had 15 men compete in the 8K today. Thirteen of them completed the course in under 30 minutes.
With a 6-1 record, the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens took second place with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps rounding out the top three with a 5-2 record on the day.
The Tigers will be back out on the course in two weeks time at the SCIAC Championships, which will take place at Prado Park in Chino Hills, Calif. on Saturday, Nov. 1 beginning at 9:00 a.m.
