Four Harriers Run to All-SCIAC Honors, Kleinsasser Named Runner of the Year

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2008) – Four Tigers finished among the top-20 runners at the 2008 cross country championships to earn All-SCIAC honors. Freshman Eric Kleinsasser led the way, finishing first and being named the SCIAC Male Runner of the Year. Joining the freshman on the First Team were the senior duo of Keith Blumenfeld and Clay Hoadley while senior David Martinez landed on the Second Team.
Kleinsasser paced the pack as he finished the 8K in 25:43.15. Blumenfeld was two runners behind, finishing third in a time of 25:51.99 and Hoadley rounded out the First Team honorees with a fifth place finish, crossing the line in 26:18.05.
Martinez completed the 8K in a time of 26:53.65 placing 13th to earn Second Team recognition.
The men’s cross country team won its third consecutive SCIAC championships this season behind the strong performances of the aforementioned runners. Oxy went on to finish fourth at the West regional meet and sent three individuals, Blumenfeld, Hoadley and Kleinsasser to Nationals.
