CHINO — Brody Barkan finished in sixth place overall as the Occidental men's cross country team took fourth place at the SCIAC Championship Meet at Prado Park on Saturday.
Barkan, who's been improving all season, completed the 8k run in 26 minutes, 27.28 seconds.
Keenan Leary was also in the top 10, placing ninth (26:31.85). Austin Sankaran was 17th (26:58.48), Jovani Barajas was 18th (27:01.53) and Thomas Robertson was 38th (27:50.08), rounding out Oxy's five scorers.
"The men fought hard and learned some valuable lessons that will help us grow and get stronger as we move in to the postseason," Oxy head coach Rob Bartlett said. "We were a little frustrated with our overall performance on Saturday, but we're already looking forward to competing against the other best teams from the Region again at our Regional Championships on Nov. 12."
Whittier's Julian Sandoval won the race with a time of 25:48.77.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps won the meet, Pomona-Pitzer finished second and Whittier was third.
