Trio of Cross Country Runners Named Academic All-American
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Feb. 21, 2008) – Announced today by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) three Occidental student-athletes and both the men’s and women’s teams have earned Academic All-American honors for performances on the course and in the classroom.

Third SCIAC Athlete of the Week Recognition for Chaves
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Nov. 21, 2007) – Following his final collegiate cross country meet Kevin Chaves capped off his career by earning his third Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week award for his performance the week of Nov. 12-18, 2007.

Chaves Runs Ahead of the West, Men’s Cross Country Advances to Nationals
PORTLAND, Ore. (Nov. 10, 2007) - Occidental men’s cross country is not satisfied with a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship. Today the Tigers competed against the best runners in the West Region, finishing second and earning a ticket to the NCAA National Championships. The women’s team came up short of qualifying after placing fifth at the meet.

Chaves Earns SCIAC Athlete of the Week Honors
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2007) – Congratulations to Kevin Chaves, senior cross country runner, who was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 28-Nov. 4, 2007.

Tiger Packs Sweep by SCIAC for a Pair of First Place Finishes
LA MIRADA, Calif. (Oct. 27, 2007) - Entering the meet the teams were seeded first (women) and second (men) but by the end of the competition both Tigers squads could call themselves SCIAC Champions. For the first time in 15 years both cross country teams brought home the SCIAC title in the same year.

Women’s XC Wins SCIAC Multi-Dual, Men Place Second
CHINO, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2007) - Occidental College cross country teams started SCIAC competition off on the right foot with the women and men finishing first and second respectively.
