LOS ANGELES — Occidental College baseball player Logan Allen (Atascadero) and women’s basketball player Makenzie Brandon (Seattle, Wash.) took home top honors as the Roy Dennis Scholar Athlete Award winners at Oxy’s senior banquet on Saturday for achieving the most in academics and athletics among the class of 2013.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — All-SCIAC runners Colin Smith (Las Vegas) and Louis Jochems (Albuquerque, N.M.) ran their season-bests and Megan Lang (Longmont, Colo.) wasn’t far off hers at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Smith finishes third at West Region Championship

INDEPENDENCE, Ore. — Colin Smith (Las Vegas) was just a little more than 1 second away from winning the NCAA Division III West Region Championship, but the sophomore Occidental College cross country star couldn’t catch a pair of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps runners in the last 80 meters of the 8K at the Oak Knol Golf Course on Saturday.
