Wis.-Platteville 9, Occidental 6; Puget Sound 13, Occidental 3

Occidental flexed some muscle in a pair of games at the SunWest Tournament in Orange, Calif. on Wednesday, March 14.

Third basemen Alyssa Smith '10 belted two home runs in a 9-6 loss to Wis.-Platteville in game one, knocking in five of the Tigers' six runs.  Smith plated Alyssa Escalante '10 with a two-run homer in the second inning and cracked a three-run homer in the seventh.

Carey Crowell '07 pitched all six innings, striking out three and walking two.

Crowell hit a solo home run to left field in the fifth inning of game two.  The Tigers rapped four hits and scored twice in the bottom of the third inning on RBI singles by Crowell and Escalante.

Teresa Brabant '10 pitched a scoreless fifth inning and went two for three at the plate, her best effort since returning to the lineup March 10.

The Tigers now enter a crucial stretch of home contests with SCIAC doubleheaders against La Verne Saturday March 17 and Whittier March 18.  Starting time is 12 noon for both.
