Tough Outing for Tigers

REDLANDS, Calif. (April 12, 008) – In Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play today at the University of Redlands the Tigers fell in a close 3-2 opening game before dropping game two by a score of 12-2 to the Bulldogs.
In game one third baseman Stephanie Egan doubled to left in the third inning, driving in both runs. Rebecca Nashleanas was 2-for-3 at the plate with a run and Alyssa Smith scored the other run after reaching on a fielders choice. Kelli Moriguchi tossed 4.1 innings, allowing just one earned run after scattering six hits.
Gabriela Chavez led the way in game two with a 2-for-2 performance at the plate, including a double, while she scored both runs. Oxy catcher Alyssa Escalante drove in Chavez with a sixth inning double to left centerfield.
The Occidental defense was solid in game two with no errors in the six inning contest.
The Tigers fall to 3-27, 0-18 in SCIAC play with six games remaining.
Oxy will return home to Bell Field where the Tigers will host the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athenas for a double header beginning at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19.
