Swimming and Diving releases 2009-10 schedule

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 1, 2009) – Under new leadership for the first time in nearly two decades, the Occidental College swimming and diving teams will look to rebuild a program that was once atop the conference standings. The 12-date winter schedule was released today by first-year head coach Alex Kuhn who joined the black and orange over the summer with a dual-role as the Aquatics Director.
Occidental swimmer and divers will jump back into the pool next week as they prepare for their nine meet regular season schedule before the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships, which will be held at the Belmont Plaza in Long Beach, Calif. at the end of February.
The Tigers will get back into competitive swimming on Sat. Nov. 14 when they travel to the University of Redlands Pentathlon. Divers will have a chance to perform a week later at the [UR] Bulldog Invitational.
During the 2009-10 campaign the Tigers will host five meets at Taylor Pool, four conference battles. The first will be against Cal Lutheran on Friday, Dec. 4. In other home meets Occidental will host Lewis & Clark (OR), the University of La Verne, Whittier College and Pomona-Pitzer (as the final tune-up before SCIACs).
Divers will compete at the SCIAC Diving Preliminaries on Feb. 13-14 with the top eight finishers competing at the SCIAC Championships that will take place Feb. 21-23.
