2008 Oxy Invitational Meet Information


2008 Oxy Invitational Final Meet Information

 

Facility:  Bill Henry Olympic Track, Occidental College. Track & jumps runways are Rekortan.  Javelin will be thrown from grass on the Lower Soccer Field (Upper Campus) and the hammer is thrown on the Upper Field.

 

Rules:  NCAA rules will govern the meet

 

Heat / Flight Assignment:

Entries are now closed.

 

Change to schedule: The 5000m and 1600m relay have been swapped so the 5000m will now run before the relay.

Parking Info.:

Limited parking is available on campus.  Street parking is available near the track stadium.

 

Stadium Entry:

Athletes, officials and coaches may enter through the participant’s gate near the start of 100 meters.  All spectators must enter through the top gate of the Stadium, there is a $5 entrance fee for spectators.  Entrance for Oxy students is free.  No spectators or non-participating athletes or coaches will be allowed on the infield.

 

Clerking / Check-in:

All athletes competing in running events are asked to check-in at the Clerk’s tent (near the 100 meter start) at least 45 minutes prior to the start of their event.  Running event athletes are encouraged to check in early. Field event athletes check-in at the event site 30 mins prior to the start of their event.  All participants who have not paid, must pay at payment table at the moment of arrival.

 

Field Events:

All horizontal jumps and throws athletes will get 3 attempts in trials, and the top 8-9

competitors will advance to finals.  In finals, the qualifiers will get three additional jumps.

 

In the long throws, markers will be used for trials. All final attempts will be measured.

 

Hammer Throw and Javelin Throw:

The hammer and javelin will take place on upper campus.  The upper athletic fields, are approximately half a mile from the track stadium.  The javelin will be thrown from a grass runway. For a map of campus click here.

 

Starting Heights:

High Jump - Men at 1.88m (6'2"), Women at 1.48m (4'10.25")

Pole Vault - Men at 3.62m (11'10.5"), Women at 2.96m (9'8.5")

 

Weigh-Ins:

Weigh-ins will be conducted from 8 AM – 9:30 PM (Shot & Discus) on the west side of the track (near the Training Room) and 10 AM – 12 Noon (Hammer and Javelin) on the Upper Field.

 

Training Room Resources:

First aid & ice will be available through Oxy’s training staff.  All other treatments must be provided by own team.

 

Concessions:

Concessions will be available @ top of bleachers
